Josef Osburg

Josef Osburg (* 1923 in Schierschwende (today the municipality of Südeichsfeld ), † 2009 in Oberursel ) was a German mathematician, general director of the Alte Leipziger insurance group , honorary chairman of the supervisory boards of ALTE LEIPZIGER mutual life insurance, ALTE LEIPZIGER Versicherung AG and ALTE LEIPZIGER Holding AG.

Life

After studying mathematics and philosophy in Bamberg and Marburg , he joined the Alte Leipziger in 1954. In 1972 he was appointed to the boards of ALTE LEIPZIGER life insurance and ALTE LEIPZIGER insurance. In 1985 he was appointed chairman of the boards of both companies. In 1989 he changed to the supervisory boards of ALTE LEIPZIGER Lebensversicherung and ALTE LEIPZIGER Versicherung as well as other companies in the ALTE LEIPZIGER - HALLESCHE group. In addition, from 1993 to 1997 he was deputy chairman of the supervisory board of HALLESCHE mutual health insurance. In 1997, Mr. Osburg resigned from the supervisory boards for health reasons and was appointed honorary chairman of the supervisory boards.

In 1996 Osburg received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon. In the same year he was awarded the Golden Ring of Honor by the city of Bad Gandersheim .
