Josef Oster (born January 4, 1971 in Zell (Mosel) ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2017 .

biography

Oster obtained his secondary school leaving certificate at the Staatliche Realschule Zell (Mosel) and completed an apprenticeship at the Cochem-Zell district administration from 1987 to 1990, where he worked as an administrative officer until 1999. From 1990 to 1992, he attended the College of Economics and Administration in Cochem . After acquiring the advanced technical college entrance qualification , he began studying at the Rhineland-Palatinate University of Public Administration in 1993 , which he graduated in 1996 with a degree in administration . From 1998 to 2000 he completed part-time studies at the Administration and Business Academy of Rhineland-Palatinate with a degree in administration and business administration (VWA) .

From 1999 to 2001 he worked as a speaker and office manager in the office of the Bundestag member Peter Bleser . From 2002 to 2017 he was the full-time mayor of the Bad Ems community and head of the administration there.

Oster lives in the Güls district of Koblenz .

Political work

Oster has been a member of the CDU since 1998. He is a member of the federal board of the CDU / CSU (KPV) local political association and is chairman of the digitization working group in the KPV. Oster is also a member of the SME and Economic Union MIT. He has been a member of the City Council of Koblenz since June 2019 .

In the 2017 federal election , Oster ran as a candidate in constituency 199 (Koblenz) and won the direct mandate there with 41.3% of the first votes. In the 19th German Bundestag he is a full member of the Committee on Home Affairs and the Committee on Petitions , and he is a deputy member of the Defense Committee .

Positions

In the Interior Committee, Oster campaigns for the security of Europe's external borders through the European Border and Coast Guard Agency ( Frontex ).

In Koblenz, he campaigned in the round tables he initiated for the renovation of the listed property Koblenzer Hof , which has been vacant for years .
