SME and Economic Union
The Mittelstands- und Wirtschaftsunion ( MIT ) (until September 27, 2019: Mittelstands- und Wirtschaftsvereinigung der CDU / CSU ) is an association of the Union's parties . According to its own statements, it advocates the principles of the social market economy modeled on Ludwig Erhard . At the same time, it represents the interests of entrepreneurs , self-employed and freelancers within the party . It is traditionally one of the most influential associations in the Union. The federal chairman is the CDU member of the Bundestag, Carsten Linnemann .
history
After it already since 1949 various combinations of the medium had been within the CDU and CSU economy, formed in parallel in both parties in 1954 SME Committee of the CSU and the Subcommittee on SME issues of the CDU . These were brought together under the spokesman for medium-sized companies, Kurt Schmücker, to form a joint committee based in Bonn . In 1956, the SME Association emerged from this committee. It was granted the status of an independent association at the CDU federal party conference. In 1995 this association of small and medium-sized enterprises merged with the economic association. The 14th Federal SME Conference on September 27, 2019 decided to change the name to “SME and Economic Union”. The abbreviation MIT was retained.
The Mittelstands- und Wirtschaftsvereinigung sees itself as the organizational union of medium-sized and politically interested persons such as tradespeople, craftsmen, entrepreneurs, members of the liberal professions as well as service providers who are responsible in the economy, science and administration. MIT stands for a free economic and social order, for the social market economy based on initiative and personal responsibility. In the Mittelstand parliamentary group (PKM) within the Bundestag faction of the CDU and CSU, 161 members (as of June 2018), many of them in leading positions, are committed to solving medium-sized problems. In addition, the PKM acts as a liaison body between the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and medium-sized organizations, in particular the chambers and associations of medium-sized businesses and MIT.
MIT publishes its member magazine Mittelstandsmagazin six times a year .
