Sarah Gillen (born October 21, 1983 in Saarbrücken ) is a German politician ( CDU ). As a replacement for Anja Wagner-Scheid , who stood in the state elections in Saarland in 2017 and later renounced her mandate , she came to the Saarland state parliament in 2017 .

Life

After finishing elementary school in Oberthal, Sarah Gillen attended the Arnold-Janssen-Gymnasium St. Wendel , where she graduated from high school in 2003. She then studied spatial and environmental planning at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern . She completed her studies with a degree in engineering . In 2015, she founded a company to advise potential builders. She is also the operator of the website ErlebnisPfadfinder.de, which Wherigos implements as a commissioned work in Saarland.

Sarah Gillen stood in the state elections in Saarland in 2017 as a representative of the SME Union at number 7 on the state list, but failed to make it into the state parliament. When Anja Wagner-Scheid renounced her mandate in favor of her work as director of the State Office for Social Affairs in Saarbrücken-Burbach , Sarah Gillen succeeded as the fifth representative of the CDU district association St. Wendel.

Political functions

She has been a member of the Junge Union since 2000 . In 2003 she became a member of the CDU and in 2016 a member of the SME Union of the CDU (MIT). She held various offices at local, district and community level. In addition, she is a member of the CDU city association board of St. Wendel and is on the state board of the women's union and MIT and on the federal board of MIT.

In addition, she leads the women's union in the St. Wendel city association as chairwoman.

Since November 2018, she has been chairing the state board of the CDU (MIT) SME Union in Saarland, replacing Bernd Wegner , who held this position 8 years before her.

Member of committees

She is a member of the Committee for Environment and Consumer Protection, a member of the Committee for Mine Safety and Post-Mining , a member of the Construction Subcommittee and, since March 21, 2018, Chairwoman of the Committee for Economy, Labor, Energy and Transport. She is also the spokesperson for traffic and consumer protection within the CDU parliamentary group.

Private life

Sarah Gillen is married and has two daughters.
