Post-mining

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nachbergbau describe all the measures in a region after the end of the recovery in mining .

Basics

If in a mountain area the mining is completed, a number of legacies of mining remain. Especially in regions where mining has been carried out for several centuries, the number of legacies is very large and diverse. There are still a large number of old tunnels , shafts and routes . A large part of these mine works has not yet been secured or is only insufficiently secured. In the Ruhr area alone, it is assumed that more than a thousand shafts from old mining are not known. Many shafts from old mining are not properly stored . The mining has created a great number of underground cavities that gradually fill with pit water . This mine water, if it is not being lifted into the aquifer penetrate and mix with the groundwater. Often there are still many daytime facilities and mining areas from the closed mines , which should be put to further use as quickly as possible. If open-cast mining was carried out in a region , the groundwater level there usually had to be lowered ; this should rise again as quickly as possible to the pre-mining state after the end of the open-cast mine.

Topics and tasks of post-mining

Under Nachbergbau the totality is understood all processes and tasks after completion of the extraction of raw materials. In addition to the immediate tasks of securing and rehabilitating mining legacies, this also includes long-term, sustainable management of the deposits and the areas used. Classic subject areas are risk management in old mining and the renaturation and recultivation of areas that were previously used for mining. In addition to groundwater and pit water management in hard and lignite mining, key tasks include the dismantling and backfilling of mining exploration and production wells and the custody of locations in the oil and gas industry. This also includes geo- monitoring of post-montane processes and interdependencies (e.g. mountain damage ). A comprehensive data, information and knowledge management provides the basis for this . In addition, there are construction measures on the infrastructure such as B. Polder measures on rivers. Due to these diverse tasks, a separate course in "Geoengineering and Post-Mining" was created.

research

2015 was held at the Institute of Technology Georg Agricola (THGA) in Bochum , the research center Nachbergbau founded (FZN) that focuses on the scientific monitoring of eternity tasks of the coal industry is.

Every two years the symposium “After Mining in North Rhine-Westphalia” takes place.
