Anja Wagner-Scheid (born October 9, 1974 in Dudweiler ) is a German politician ( CDU ). Since October 29, 2019, she has been State Secretary for Finance in the Saarland Ministry of Finance and Europe.

Anja Wagner-Scheid grew up in Friedrichsthal . After graduating from the Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium in Sulzbach in 1994, she studied modern German literature and linguistics as well as political science at the University of Saarland . In 2000 she completed her Magistra Artium . From 2000 to 2004 she worked as a press officer in the Saarland Ministry for Women, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Regina Görner .

In September 2004 she was elected to the 13th state parliament of Saarland . Until 2009, Anja Wagner-Scheid was the social policy spokesperson for her parliamentary group and chairwoman of the parliamentary group working group for work, health and social affairs and a member of the committees for the environment, for work, health and social affairs as well as for home affairs and sport. In addition, she was active in the inquiry commission on demographic change of the Saarland state parliament and deputy. Member of the Interregional Parliamentary Council (IPR). The mandate ended in 2009.

From 2009 to the end of 2014, Wagner-Scheid was head of department in the Saarbrücken State Chancellery. Since January 1, 2015 she has been director of the State Office for Social Affairs in Saarbrücken-Burbach. Anja Wagner-Scheid joined the CDU in 1994. Since 1999 she has also been a member of the Junge Union , - including deputy district chairwoman (Saarbrücken-Land) from 2001 to 2004. She has been a member since 2003 and has been a deputy since spring 2008. District chairwoman of the CDU district association Saarbrücken-Land.

In 2004 she took over the chairmanship of the CDU-Stadtverband Friedrichsthal. From 2004 to 2016 she was a member of the Friedrichsthal City Council, u. a. also as group leader (2013–2016). From November 2013 to December 2015 she led the CDU local association Bildstock-Maybach.

In the mayoral election in Friedrichsthal on September 16, 2007 and the resulting runoff on September 30, Anja Wagner-Scheid ran as a candidate for the CDU. She emerged victorious from the first ballot, but narrowly lost the runoff.

In the Frauen Union she was press officer of her circle from 2003 to 2013, from 2006 to 2013 deputy. District chairwoman of the Frauen Union Saarbrücken-Land and was elected to the regional executive committee of the Frauen Union Saar in 2008. On June 3, 2012, she was elected regional chairman of the Saar Women’s Union in Losheim, succeeding Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer , who had been the regional chairman since 1999. On September 15, 2019, she was elected Deputy Federal Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Germany in Leipzig.

Since 2010 she has also been a member of the CDU state executive.

Personal

Anja Wagner-Scheid is Protestant, married to Marco Scheid and has two sons. She is the chair of the association Groß für Klein in Friedrichsthal e. V.
