Detlef Gürth (* 11. March 1962 in Aschersleben ) is a German politician of the CDU and member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt . From April 19, 2011 to December 1, 2015 he was President of the State Parliament .

Life and work

After finishing high school , Detlef Gürth trained as a plumber . Then he was an apprentice trainer. He later worked as a self-employed businessman. He was the managing partner of "Gürth & Partner GbR".

He is Protestant, married and has two children.

Politics / party

1984 Gürth a member of the GDR - block party CDU . 1990 Gürth was for the CDU member of the first freely elected People's Chamber , where a member of the committees German unity and the Foreign Affairs Committee. Since 1990 he has been a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt for constituency 18 ( Aschersleben ) . He sits for his group in the Committee on Economy and Labor and in the Council of Elders . He is also the economic policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group. From 2002 to 2006 he was the parliamentary director of the CDU state parliamentary group.

Within his party he is chairman of the working group (AG) economy and work of the CDU parliamentary group. In addition, he sits on the district and state boards of the CDU.

On April 19, 2011, Gürth was elected President of the State Parliament of Saxony-Anhalt. He resigned from this office with effect from December 2, 2015 after investigations into possible tax offenses had been opened against him .

He is a city councilor in Aschersleben and state chairman of the SME and Business Association (MIT). He is also a member of the Seeland Association and the Association for the Preservation of the Historic City Fortifications Aschersleben e. V., founding member of the citizens' initiative Friedrichshohenberg and since 1994 chairman of the Harz-Börde district sports association. He is also an ordinary member of 1. FC Aschersleben e. V.
