Josef Pellkofer

Josef Pellkofer (born May 1, 1960 in Straubing ) is a German administrative lawyer and local politician ( Independent Voting Association ). From May 1, 2002 to April 30, 2020, he was the full-time First Mayor of the Lower Bavarian city ​​of Dingolfing .

education and profession

Pellkofer started school at the St. Josef elementary school in Straubing and then switched to the Anton-Bruckner-Gymnasium , where he passed the Abitur examination in 1980. He studied law at the University of Regensburg and entered the public service after passing the two state exams. He was a consultant at the state insurance institute Niederbayern-Oberpfalz in Landshut. In 1993 he switched to internal administration and, as a legal state civil servant, was department head in various departments of the Dingolfing-Landau district office.

Local politics

In the mayoral election as part of the local elections in March 2002, Pellkofer received 31.7 percent of the valid votes in the first ballot on March 3, and had to run for the runoff two weeks later with Matthäus Strebl ( CSU ), who received 32.9 percent . The other candidates were Michael Rieger ( SPD ) with 25.2 percent and Walter Kühndel with 10.3 percent. Pellkofer then won the runoff election on March 17th with 57.4 percent and was elected 1st Mayor of the city of Dingolfing to succeed Erwin Rennschmid (also UWG), who after two terms in office did not stand for election for health reasons.

On March 2, 2008 he was unopposed and was confirmed in office with 94.6 percent. In the following election on March 16, 2014, he was also unopposed and was confirmed in office with 95.4 percent.

He did not run for the election on March 15, 2020 . His successor was decided on March 29th in the runoff between Armin Grassinger (UWG) and Christine Trapp (SPD, daughter of District Administrator Heinrich Trapp ), which Armin Grassinger won with 71.4 percent of the valid votes.

From 2002 to 2008 Pellkofer was a member of the administrative and legal committee as well as the finance committee of the Bavarian Association of Cities and has been a member of the board of directors as well as the committee of members belonging to the district since 2008. On July 9, 2014, he was elected 2nd Deputy Chairman and re-elected in July 2017.

From 2002 to 2008 he was a member of the Legal and Constitutional Committee of the German Association of Cities and has been a member of the main committee since 2008.
