Josef Prestel

Josef Prestel (* 1888 in Kempten , † 1969 ) was a German writer, educator and essayist. He had a particularly strong influence on the didactics of German language and literature in elementary schools in the 1950s and 1960s. His career began as an assistant at the educational seminar at LMU Munich. He worked for a long time in teacher training for the primary school in Munich, first at the college for teacher training until 1942, later again in Lauingen until 1953 and at the PH Munich-Pasing .

During the Nazi era, he provided interpretations of fairy tales such as: "The fairy tale ... becomes a graph of folk virtues: loyalty, steadfastness, fearless courage in male heroes ... humble devotion in female heroes." (1938, p. 62).
