Josef Reiter (politician)

Josef Reiter (born February 18, 1890 in Weng im Innkreis , † December 30, 1981 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( CS / ÖVP ) and farmer. From 1945 to 1953 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .

Life

Reiter attended elementary school and from 1925 worked as a farmer in Weng im Innkreis. He joined the Christian Social Party in 1919 and became a member of the Kleinhäuslerbund in 1924. In his home community of Weng, Reiter was active as a councilor for the Christian Social Party between 1925 and 1934, and in the Kleinhäuslerbund he was head of the district secretariat of the Kleinhäuslerbund in Braunau from 1930 to 1935.

After the Second World War, Reiter joined the ÖVP in 1945 and was the district chairman of the ÖVP-Braunau from 1945 to 1954. From 1945 to 1955 he was also a member of the provincial management of the Upper Austrian Association of Small Houses and was involved in church organizations. In 1945 he was the founder of the parish council in Weng, was one of the founding members of the Catholic men's movement in 1955 and was the chairman of the Catholic Educational Institute. He was also head of the Red Cross in Weng, from 1953 to 1971 a member of the supervisory board and between 1961 and 1971 chairman of the supervisory board of Volkskreditbank , between 1957 and 1974 a member of the supervisory board of Innviertler Verlag and from 1960 supervisory board chairman of Innviertler Verlag. Reiter represented the ÖVP between December 19, 1945 and March 18, 1953 as a member of the National Council.
