Josef Scherer (politician)

Josef Scherer (born July 30, 1791 in Hochdorf LU ; † April 30, 1854 ibid) was a Swiss physician and politician .

biography

Josef Scherer studied medicine. At the University of Tübingen he became a member of the Corps Helvetia. After completing his studies, he received a medical patent in 1815. From 1819 to 1842 he was a district doctor in Hitzkirch and Hochdorf. From 1842 to 1844 he was a medical officer. He was a member of the Medical College and Medical Council.

In addition to his work as a doctor, Scherer was a politician. He was a co-founder of the conservative movement from 1830 to 1831 and confidante of Josef Leu . From 1831 to 1841 he was a member of the school commission of the school district in the Seetal . From 1831 to 1841 he was a member of the Lucerne Constitutional Council. From 1831 to 1832 and from 1845 to 1847 he was the Lucerne Councilor and from 1841 to 1847 the Education Councilor . From 1845 to 1847 he was a member of the Lucerne government council. His contribution to the political upheaval of 1841 is considered decisive.

His schoolmate Casimir Pfyffer processed his person in the comedy The young dude .
