Casimir Pfyffer von Altishofen (born October 10, 1794 in Rome , † November 11, 1875 in Lucerne ) was a Swiss lawyer , politician and publicist from the Lucerne patrician family Pfyffer von Altishofen . He was the first city president of Lucerne from 1832 to 1835 and an important leader of the Lucerne liberals in the 19th century.

In 1826 he was elected to the Grand Council of Lucerne, to which he belonged until 1869 and which he chaired from 1831 to 1841. He was also a member of the National Council from 1848 to 1863 and its President in 1854/55. From 1857 to 1871 he was also a member of the Lucerne Higher Court.

Pfyffer ran on July 11, 1855 to succeed Josef Munzinger in the Federal Council . After he narrowly missed the absolute majority in the first round, he renounced; Josef Martin Knüsel was ultimately elected .
