Franz Kurzmeyer (born August 29, 1935 in Lucerne , resident in Lucerne and Roggliswil ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP ).

biography

Franz Kurzmeyer was born on August 29, 1935 in Lucerne as the son of Werner Kurzmeyer and Louise Schütz. He attended schools in Lucerne and passed the Matura at the Lucerne Cantonal School . Kurzmeyer completed a law degree at the University of Zurich and was then admitted to the bar. From 1965 he worked as a clerk in the canton of Lucerne . From 1967 to 1976 he was a district judge and temporarily president of the district court. From April 9, 1976 to May 22, 1984 he was Chief Justice of the Canton of Lucerne.

Franz Kurzmeyer served as president of the retirees' association of the city of Lucerne and as president of the working committee of city staff associations . In the military field, Franz Kurzmeyer achieved the rank of captain .

Kurzmeyer comes from a political dynasty. His grandfather Otto Kurzmeyer was a member of the Lucerne City Council and Grand Councilor (today a Cantonal Councilor). His father Werner Kurzmeyer was a member of the government council of the Canton of Lucerne and a member of the National Council . Franz Kurzmeyer was a member of the Lucerne Grand Council (today Cantonal Council ) at the cantonal level between 1971 and 1976 . He was elected to the Lucerne City Council (city government) in 1984. After the surprising death of Matthias Luchsinger , he became mayor of Lucerne in 1984 . He held this office until 1996.

Franz Kurzmeyer married Annemarie Christ and is a father of three.
