Urs W. Studer

Urs Walter Studer (born November 26, 1949 in Lucerne , resident in Lucerne and Escholzmatt ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP , later non-party).

biography

Urs W (old) Studer was born on November 26, 1949 in Lucerne as the son of Walter Studer and Sylvia Schucan. He attended schools in Lucerne and passed the Matura at the Lucerne Cantonal School . Studer completed a law degree at the University of Zurich and graduated in January 1974 as lic. iur. from. In March 1976 he was admitted to the bar in Lucerne. He first worked as a lawyer and then became a court clerk in the canton of Lucerne . Afterwards he was district judge and district court president II Luzern Stadt.

Urs W. Studer was President of the Lucerne Citizens Music Society from 1978 to 1986 (later Honorary President). He also served as President of the City of Lucerne's Pensioners' Association , the Road Inspectorate's Staff Association and President of the Municipal Staff Association .

Urs W. Studer was a member of the Lucerne Grand Council (today Cantonal Council ) at cantonal level between 1979 and 1999 . Since he was defeated by his cousin Peter Studer in the nomination for the successor to Franz Kurzmeyer as city president within the FDP, he resigned from the LPL and ran as an independent candidate. He won the election and became mayor of Lucerne in 1996 . He held this office until 2012.

Urs W. Studer married Susi Bühlmann and is a father of three.
