Alois Singer

Heinrich Alois Singer (born October 5, 1769 in Lucerne ; † May 19, 1841 there , entitled to live in Lucerne) was a Swiss politician (liberal).

biography

Alois Singer came from the famous Tyrolean master builder family Singer and was born as the son of Johann Anton Singer and Anna-Maria Singer, née Henseler. Singer attended high school in Lucerne. He then worked as a city trumpeter, community official and from 1799 to 1809 as a district taker. He was also a commissioner to raise the tithe and then from 1811 to 1814 chief of the Landjägerkorps with the rank of captain. Alois Singer worked as a lawyer from 1814. From 1816 to 1829 he was a cantonal advocate (notary). He served as judge and magistrate and was appellate judge from 1831 to 1838.

His political career at the cantonal level was, on the one hand, his membership in the Lucerne Grand Council (today the Cantonal Council ), of which he was a member from 1828 to 1841. As a lawyer, he also held numerous offices. Among other things, he was constitutional councilor in 1831.

At the municipal level, his political career began with his election to the Lucerne City Council (city government) in 1832. In 1836 he was also elected mayor of Lucerne . From 1832 he was also a large council for the poor and orphans.

Alois Singer was married to Antonia Scherenberg. Ludwig Singer, who was executed for mother-in-law murder in 1831, was a relative of Alois Singer.
