Hans Rudolf Meyer (born January 2, 1922 in Lucerne ; † December 5, 2005 there , entitled to live in Lucerne and Aristau ) was a Swiss politician ( FDP ). In Lucerne he was also known by his abbreviation HRM .

biography

Hans Rudolf Meyer was born on January 2, 1922 in Lucerne as the son of the mechanical engineer Alfred Otto Meyer and the teacher Rose, née Imbach. Meyer completed a law degree in Freiburg and Bern . Subsequently, he ran his own law firm .

Moreover officiated Meyer from 1970 to 1978 as president of the Board of Trustees of the International Music Festival in Lucerne , whose honorary president he was appointed after his resignation. Meyer also held various board memberships. In the military field, Meyer served as the central secretary of the Swiss Officers' Society from 1955 to 1958 and as the commander of the Reduit Brigade 22 from 1970 to 1977 .

Hans Rudolf Meyer was a member of the city ​​council of Lucerne from 1955 to 1959 . From 1967 to 1979 he was the city ​​president and the school director of Lucerne. To this end, Meyer presided over the Liberal Party (now FDP, Die Liberalen ) of the city of Lucerne between 1959 and 1965 . At the cantonal level, Meyer was represented in the Lucerne Grand Council (today the Cantonal Council ) between 1959 and 1971 . In addition, he took a seat in the National Council for his party from 1962 to 1979 . The civil defense system in the tunnel of the A2 through the Sonnenberg can be traced back to Meyer's commitment.

Hans Rudolf Meyer, who was married to the lawyer Margrit, born Baumgartner, died on December 5, 2005, four weeks before he was 84 years old in Lucerne. He found his final resting place in the Friedental cemetery .
