Leonz Gurdi

Leonz Gurdi (born February 24, 1814 in Doppleschwand ; † April 21, 1891 in Lucerne ) was a Swiss lawyer and politician .

Life

Born the son of a farmer , Gurdi attended law school in Freiburg im Uechtland and studied law in Bern and Jena . During his studies in Jena he became a member of the Burschenschaftliche Gesellschaft auf dem Burgkeller in 1838 and of the Fürstenkeller Burschenschaft in 1839/40 . In 1841 he became an advocate in Ruswil . He was a supporter of the Liberals and was convicted for his involvement in the parade trains . He became a lawyer in Lucerne, was chief judge from 1851 to 1854, then president of the city district court until 1860. From 1866 to 1871 he was mayor of Lucerne and was then a member of the Grand City Council and the Grand Council of Lucerne until 1875 .
