Josef Schmidt (theologian)

Josef Schmidt CSsR (born January 27, 1949 in Körprich ) is a German theologian .

Life

After graduating from the Collegium Josephinum Bonn in 1969, he joined the Redemptorists. He made the first profession in 1970 and the perpetual profession in 1974. Deacon and priest , he was in 1975 ordained . After his philosophical-theological studies 1970–1976 at the Philosophical-Theological University of the Redemptorists in Geistingen , he studied mathematics from 1976 to 1983 at the University of Bonn , where he passed the first and second state exams for teaching at grammar school. From 1984 to 2001 he taught mathematics and Catholic religious studies at the Collegium Josephinum Bonn. 2001-2006 Biblical Theology he studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University , where in 2003 he the licentiate acquired in 2006 and his doctorate was. After teaching at the Philosophical-Theological College of the Steyler Missionaries in Sankt Augustin as a lecturer and lecturer 2007-2013, he was appointed professor of New Testament exegesis and introductory science at the Philosophical-Theological College of the Steyler Missionaries in Sankt Augustin in 2013.

His main research interests are church history of the 1st century and New Testament prosopography.
