Josef Schuster (theologian)

Josef Schuster SJ (born July 23, 1946 in Dauersberg ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

After graduating from high school in June 1967 at the grammar school of the Cistercian Abbey of Marienstatt , he studied philosophy at the Pullach University from 1969 to 1971 and theology at the PTH Sankt Georgen from 1971 to 1974 , where he obtained a diploma in Catholic theology in 1974 . He was ordained a priest on July 13, 1974 in Frankfurt Cathedral . From 1974 to 1977 he was educator for grades 12 and 13 at the Aloisiuskolleg in Bonn-Bad Godesberg and teacher for religion and philosophy. He completed his doctoral studies (1977–1982) in the subject of theological ethics at the University of Tübingen with Alfons Auer in 1982 with a doctorate as Dr. theol. from. From 1982 to 1986 he headed the Mergener Hof youth center in Trier and was a part-time religion teacher at the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Gymnasium . The tertianship in Berlin he attended from 1986 to 1987. As an Assistant Professor (1987-1996), he taught philosophy and theology Ethics at the PTH Sankt Georgen. After completing his habilitation in 1996 for moral theology , he was appointed full professor . From 1998 to 2004 he was rector of the Sankt Georgen college.
