Josef Theodor Rath

Josef Theodor Rath CSSp (born February 4, 1900 in Rees ; † February 9, 1993 in Dormagen ) was a German clergyman.

Life

He grew up in Oberhausen . In 1915 he joined the Spiritans as a student to become a missionary. After his ordination on April 24, 1927, he was employed as a teacher of Greek, history and German at the Spiritaner high schools in Knechtsteden and Menden . In 1939 he was appointed provincial secretary and took care of foreign soldiers suffering from disease in Cologne- Hohenlind as a paramedic. After the Second World War, he taught future missionaries church history and missiology as a lecturer at the Knechtsteden School of Philosophy and Theology. After the Knechtstedener seminary was dissolved in 1967, he intensified the writing he had begun in 1928. In the parish of Straberg , where he had been active since 1955, he was pastor from 1975 to 1980.
