Pepi Wakovsky
Josef "Pepi" Wakovsky (born March 4, 1900 in Vienna ; † March 31, 1959 there ) was an Austrian song composer and Schrammel musician.
Life
Among other things, he composed the “Floridsdorfer Marsch” and the well-known song “Der narrische Kastanienbaum” (text by Hans Pflanzer) for his home district.
Wakovsky was buried in the Jedleseer Friedhof (Gr. 23, R. 3, Nr. 8) in Vienna.
Recognitions
- In 1960 Josef-Wakovsky-Gasse in Vienna's 21st district of Floridsdorf was named after him.
