The white-necked thrush ( Turdus albocinctus ) is a songbird from the thrush family (Turdidae).

features

The bird measures 26–28 cm and weighs around 100 g. The male is black with a very broad white collar that reaches below the chin and chest and a yellow beak. The legs are yellow-orange.

Occurrence

The white-necked thrush is restricted to the Indian subcontinent from Bangladesh , Bhutan , Myanmar and Nepal to Pakistan . It prefers subtropical or tropical moist mountain forests and bush savannah.

The breeding season is from March to July. The thrush feeds on insects and earthworms, but also on fruits and berries.

Hazardous situation

The white-necked thrush is not considered to be endangered ( Least Concern ).
