Josef Wiefels

Josef Wiefels (born May 19, 1893 , † October 2, 1977 in Hamm ) was a German lawyer .

Wiefels was a judge from 1919 to 1922 and then a regional judge, and finally from 1934 a higher regional judge in Düsseldorf . From 1946 to 1961 he was President of the Hamm Higher Regional Court . In this capacity he was also Vice President of the Constitutional Court from 1952 to 1961. Wiefels was the author of the series of Schaeffer's Grundrissen , some of which appeared in large editions as short textbooks from the 1920s until the 1990s. He published revision courses on civil and criminal law, the civil code and company law.

Josef-Wiefels-Straße in Hamm was named after him.
