Josefina Pla

Josefina Pla , also Josefina Plá (born November 9, 1903 in Lobos , Canary Islands , † January 11, 1999 in Asunción , Paraguay ) was a writer and potter from Paraguay.

Life

She was born in 1903 in the lighthouse of Lobos ( Faro de Martiño ) as the daughter of Leopoldo Plá and Rafaela Guerra Galvani; her exact date of birth is unknown, her best-known biographer Raúl Amaral states November 9th. In 1926 she arrived in Paraguay and settled in Villa Aurelia, later she moved to the capital Asunción.

She wrote avant-garde poetry, stories, essays, and plays, and has had a significant impact on intellectual life in Paraguay.
