The Faro de Martiño is a lighthouse ( Faro in Spanish ) in the Canary Islands . It stands on the island of Lobos and describes the La Bocayna strait between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote .

The seven meter high tower and the adjoining house for the beacon keepers were built from 1863 on the northern cape of the island according to a design by Juan León y Castillo (1834–1912) in the neoclassical style with Canarian building elements. The lighthouse, which was initially powered by olive oil , went into operation on July 30, 1865 and was automated in 1968. For several years, the 150 is Watt strong halogen lamp with solar energy operated. The fire has a range of 14 nautical miles and covers the sector from 83 to 353 °.

The writer Josefina Pla was born in 1903 in Faro de Martiño.
