Josefine Kolbe

Josefine "Pepa" Kolbe was an Austrian table tennis player . She won two bronze medals at the 1930 World Championships .

Career

Josefine Kolbe played for Badener AC . In 1929 she took part in the World Championships in Budapest. In the singles she reached the quarterfinals after defeating the Englishwoman Joan Ingram , in which she was defeated by the Hungarian Anna Sipos . In doubles with Anastasia Flussmann, she started directly in the quarter-finals due to the small number of participants. Here she lost to Mária Mednyánszky / Anna Sipos from Hungary. In mixed with Erwin Kohn, she was defeated by the later Hungarian world champions István Kelen / Anna Sipos.

Josefine Kolbe was more successful at the 1930 World Championships in Berlin, where she won bronze in singles and doubles. In the individual she defeated Ingeborg Carnatz (Germany) and Marie Masakova (Czechoslovakia), but lost in the semifinals to the eventual world champion Mária Mednyánszky (Hungary). In doubles with Etta Neumann she lost again in the semifinals against the Hungarians Mária Mednyánszky / Anna Sipos .

In 1931 Kolbe reached the final of the Austrian National Championships , in which she did not play for health reasons.
