Erwin Kohn
Erwin Kohn (born December 20, 1911 in Baden (Lower Austria) , † March 18, 1994 in Mar del Plata ) was an Austrian table tennis player . At the 1936 World Cup he was a member of the championship team.
Career
Erwin Kohn has played for the TT Casino Baden AC club since 1926 . In 1930, 1931 and 1933 he was Austrian individual champion .
From 1929 to 1937 he took part in world championships eight times . He was team world champion with the Austrian men in 1936 . In 1929 and 1934 he won silver in the team competition , and bronze in 1932 , 1933 and 1935 . He won further bronze medals in 1932 and 1935 in singles and in 1933 in doubles with Paul Flußmann .
The greatest success is Kohn's victory in an international tournament in Riga, where he defeated the then reigning world champion Victor Barna in the final .
After the World Cup in 1936, Kohn reduced his training effort. In June 1937 he emigrated to Buenos Aires. Between 1940 and 1952 he was eight times champion of Argentina.
In 2012 Erwin Kohn was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame .
