Josep Gombau Balague (born June 5, 1976 in Amposta , Spain ) is a Spanish football coach.
life and career
Gombau took his first steps in football as a goalkeeper on the field. At the age of 16, however, he gave up his own playing career and became a coach. After coaching the youth teams of CF Amposta and Espanyol Barcelona , he switched to the youth academy of FC Barcelona in 2003 as a coach . In 2008 he became technical director of FCB Escola , a soccer academy of FC Barcelona in Dubai .
In 2009 he became the new coach of Kitchee SC , who plays in Hong Kong 's premier league. Under Gombau, Kitchee won two championships, two FA Cups and a league cup.
On April 30, 2013 it was announced that Gombau was leaving Kitchee to coach Adelaide United in the Australian A-League . He signed a contract there for two years. One of his first official acts was the commitment of his two compatriots Sergio Cirio and Isaías Sánchez , who had both previously played in the youth academy of FC Barcelona.
