Joseph Allekotte (born June 17, 1867 in Saarn , Mülheim an der Ruhr district , † August 8, 1944 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) was a German politician at the center .

He was the son of an organist and music teacher. After attending primary school, Allekotte received three years of private tuition in the so-called real subjects as well as in foreign languages ​​and music. In 1884 he joined the postal service as a postal worker . In 1889 he was promoted to postal assistant, 1904 to postal secretary, 1910 to senior postal secretary, 1920 to senior postal inspector, 1927 to post office manager and 1928 to postal director. In 1932 he retired.

Political activity

Allekotte was a member of the Center Party , whose district association Mülheim an der Ruhr he headed. From 1906 Allekotte was a city councilor in Mülheim an der Ruhr. In 1919/20 he was a member of the Weimar National Assembly . Then he was a member of the Reichstag in the Reichstag of the Weimar Republic until 1928 .
