Joseph Beck (theologian, 1858)

Joseph Beck (born October 28, 1858 in Freiburg , Switzerland ; † September 20, 1943 in Sursee ) was a Swiss Catholic moral theologian and university professor.

Life

Joseph Beck became a Catholic priest in 1884 and a professor of morality and pastoral theology in 1888.

From 1891 until his retirement in 1934, Joseph Beck was a professor for pastoral theology and liturgy at the University of Friborg in Switzerland. His speech at the beginning of the rectorate of the University of Freiburg, which he had given on November 15, 1906, appeared in print.

He was one of the co-founders of the Swiss workers' association, editor of a monthly for Christian social reform and promoter of women's education.

From 1909 he was also director of the Ste Croix girls' high school.
