Joseph Humuth
Joseph Demuth (born April 21, 1946 in Ridgewood (New Jersey) ) is an American physicist .
Demuth received a BS in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute in 1968 and a PhD in 1972 from Cornell University . He moved to IBM and was then a Fellow of the Research Division until 1974, a member of the Research Staff until 1978 and Assistant to the Director of Research until 1980. Since 1987 he has been a senior manager at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center at IBM and a financial officer at Noble Development Corporation. In 1985 Demuth was chairman of the Surface Science Division at the American Vacuum Society . In 1981 he became a Fellow of the American Physical Society .
In his research, Demuth is concerned with understanding the structural and electronic properties of surfaces and adsorbates .
