Joseph Fabre

Joseph Fabre OMI (born November 24, 1824 in Cuges , † October 26, 1892 in Royaumont ) was Oblate of the Immaculate Virgin Mary and from 1861 to 1892 also Superior General of this community.

He first studied in the diocesan seminary of Marseille before entering the novitiate of the Oblate Missionaries in Notre-Dame de l'Osier . On 29 May 1847 he received by Eugene de Mazenod , the then Superior General of the Community and Bishop of Marseille , the ordination . He worked as professor and superior of the Marseille seminary, as general procurator of his community and finally as general assistant. After Eugene von Mazenod's death, he was elected Superior General of the Oblates on December 5, 1861. He died in Royaumont on October 26, 1892.
