Joseph Fahnroth

Joseph Fahnroth (born July 23, 1838 in Ziegenhals , † July 30, 1895 in Breslau ) was a Silesian church painter .

Joseph Fahnroth began his painting apprenticeship with Franz Plachetka in Neustadt OS and continued it at the Royal Art and Trade School in Breslau .

From October 30, 1862, Fahnroth studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Johann von Schraudolph , Carl Theodor von Piloty and Wilhelm von Diez .

During his stay in Munich, he created images of saints for Silesian churches. He returned to Ziegenhals around 1874. At the end of the 1870s he moved to Breslau.

In 1880 he presented the Wroclaw Catholic bishop Heinrich Förster with a collection of photographs of his works as well as his artistic résumé. That brought him many commissions from the Silesian churches.
