Joseph Huddart

Joseph Huddart (born January 11, 1741 in Allonby , Cumberland , England , † 1816 ) was an English captain, engineer and hydrographer . He is considered to be the inventor of the protractor with three arms.

Life

He was born the only son of William Huddart and his wife Rachel.

Research trips

For the East India Company he sailed to Sumatra in 1773 .
