Joseph Iten

Joseph Iten , also Josef Iten (born August 9, 1943 ) is a Swiss lawyer and politician ( CVP ).

biography

After graduating from Schwyz grammar school in 1963, Iten obtained a law degree from the University of Zurich in 1968 and was licensed to practice law and notary in Nidwalden in 1969 . Since then he has been running an independent lawyer and notary's office in Hergiswil.

From 1970 to 1972 Iten was councilor of Hergiswil and thereafter until 1982 commune president. He was a member of the Nidwalden cantonal parliament from 1986 to 1978 and presided over the CVP Nidwalden from 1978 to 1984. From 1979 to 1995 Iten was a member of the National Council . In 1988/89 he was President of the National Council .

During his tenure as National Councilor, Iten campaigned, among other things, for the abolition of Velovignettes .
