Joseph Moses Juran (born December 24, 1904 in Brăila , Romania ; † February 28, 2008 in Rye , Westchester County , New York ) was a Romanian-American industrial engineer and was one of the pioneers of quality management .

Life

Juran was brought to Japan in 1953 on the initiative of William Edwards Deming , after he, like Deming, received little recognition in the United States for his ideas on quality development and significance. In Japan he worked primarily as a personal advisor to Mr. Toyoda (see also Toyota ), which made him play a key role in the development of the Japanese automotive industry.

Services

Among other things, Juran created the concept of the quality trilogy, which is based on the pillars of quality planning, regulation and improvement. It is also assigned the 80/20 rule, according to which 80% of the errors are caused by 20% of the error causes (see also error cause analysis ). The idea of the A3 report , which is used in quality management, also goes back to Juran.

System for continuous quality improvement:

  1. Proof of the relevance of the quality issue
  2. Project identification
  3. Organization and control of the projects
  4. diagnosis
  5. Therapeutic measures
  6. Overcoming resistance to change
  7. Monitoring the new level
