Joseph Meliga

Joseph Meliga (born August 10, 1905 in Antibes , † August 2, 1967 ) was a French football player .

Career

Meliga grew up in Antibes and started playing football at the local club Olympique Antibes ; he was one of a team that earned qualification for the professional league Division 1 founded in 1932 during the 1931/32 season. Thus, the defender went to the 1932/33 season in the top French league and was part of his team.

He was able to maintain his position in the team in the following years and thus contributed to securing relegation, even if he was denied winning a national title. A broken leg was the reason for him in 1937 to end his career at the age of 31 after 98 first division matches with four goals; The professional, who died in 1967, never changed his club.
