Josephine Giard (born March 22, 1996 in Rostock ) is a German soccer player .

Career

The striker Giard began her career in the youth division of FSV Gütersloh in 2009 . In the 2012/13 season she was first champion of the Bundesliga West with the B-Juniors and reached the final of the German championship via the station 1. FFC Frankfurt, which, however, was lost 3-1 to Bayern Munich . In the summer of 2013 Giard moved up to the squad of the first team that played in the 2nd Bundesliga North . Her most successful season was the 2017/18 season , in which she scored 14 goals in eleven games.

On February 23, 2018 Giard signed a contract with the Scottish first division club Celtic Glasgow . Two days later she made her debut in a 4-0 cup win against St. Johnstone FC . In the second round of the cup competition Giard scored the 1000th competitive goal of Celtics women's team in the game against Hamilton Academical .

Josephine Giard initially studied at Bielefeld University and later moved to the University of Strathclyde , where she is aiming for a master's degree in biotechnology .
