Joshua Clottey (born October 6, 1977 in Accra ) is a Ghanaian professional boxer. He was IBF world champion in the welterweight division .

Life

Clottey won 14 of his first 20 welterweight bouts by knockout . On November 29, 1999, he fought at the Wembley Arena in London against the Argentine professional boxer Carlos Baldomir for the WBC international welterweight title and lost by disqualification due to repeated headbuttons.

Clottey then won the African Boxing Union welterweight title. On American soil he won several welterweight and middleweight titles, including the IBF Intercontinental title. On December 2, 2006, Clottey boxed for the World Boxing Organization world title against Antonio Margarito , but broke his hand in the fourth round. On April 7, 2007, he won by unanimous decision of the jury on points over Diego Corrales . Clottey won over Zab Judah on August 2, 2008 for the IBF title.

Clottey lives in the Bronx , New York . He is the brother of former boxers Judas Clottey and Emmanuel Clottey .
