Marcel Jouhandeau

Marcel Jouhandeau (born July 26, 1888 in Guéret , Département Creuse, † April 7, 1979 in Rueil-Malmaison , France) was a French Catholic writer .

He wrote mostly autobiographical, partly realistic, partly dreamlike descriptions of French provincial life, influenced by the Renouveau catholique .

In 1941 Jouhandeau took part in the " European Poets' Meeting " in Weimar , organized by the Nazi German cultural propaganda .

In 1975 he was elected an honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters .
