Jouko Öystilä (born February 25, 1952 in Oulu ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player (defender).

Career

Jouko Öystilä started ice hockey in his hometown of Oulu near Kärpät Oulu and went through all youth teams there. In 1969 he moved to Jokerit Helsinki , one of the strongest teams in Finland. In 1971 he was first runner-up with the Jokers, two years later he won the Finnish championship with the team . In 1973/74 the defender played for a year at TPS Turku before moving to the Bundesliga for the Cologne EC . He played there for three years - interrupted by a brief guest appearance at TPS. Öystilä also won a championship in Germany ( 1977 ). A year later he was runner- up in his first season at the Swedish club AIK Solna . Öystilä played another year with AIK and two in the Finnish second division with Jäähonka Espoo before ending his active career.

In the course of his career, Öystilä played many important games and tournaments for the Finnish national team . He took part in the world championships between 1971 and 1975. In all five participations, he finished fourth with the selection and never won a medal.
