Jouni Inkala

Jouni Inkala (born April 15, 1966 in Kemi , Finland ) is a Finnish poet.

Life

Inkala grew up as the son of a pastor in various places in Finland, first attended an art school after graduating from high school, but then switched to studying literature and philosophy in Oulu and finally Helsinki . He lives as a freelance writer in Helsinki, writes essays, columns and plays, but sees himself primarily as a poet. He is an active member of the Finnish PEN , maintains the exchange with colleagues abroad and translates her poems into Finnish. His debut collection Tässä sen reuna (Here's the edge) was published in 1992 and was awarded the prize for the best literary debut in Finland. Ten volumes of his poetry are now available, and in 2007 a volume with collected poems from the years 1992–2007 was published.
