The Journal of Industrial Microbiology & Biotechnology (JIMB) is a specialist journal in the field of technical microbiology and biotechnology published by the Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology , founded in 1949 . The magazine first appeared in March 1986 as the Journal of Industrial Microbiology (JIM), the first editor-in-chief was George E. Pierce . The magazine was initially published every two months, today it appears monthly. It has been published since 1996 under the name used today, Journal of Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology (JIMB). In 2012, issue 39 will be published by Springer Science + Business Media .
