Joy Bryan
Joy Bryan is an American jazz singer .
Joy Bryan, who hailed from New Castle, Indiana , performed on the west coast of the United States and became known as a singer there when she recorded several albums for smaller labels such as Mode Records in the late 1950s . She mostly sang pop songs, ballads and jazz standards such as " My Funny Valentine ", " These Foolish Things (Remind Me of You) ", "Old Devil Moon" or "It Never Entered My Mind", stylistically based on cool singers like June Christy or Chris Connor . In 1957 she made her debut album Joy Bryan Sings , which was arranged by Marty Paich ; She was accompanied by West Coast Jazz musicians such as Bob Enevoldsen , Herb Geller , Jack Sheldon , Red Mitchell and Mel Lewis . After her marriage to the Californian record producer Lester Koenig in 1961, she retired as a singer. One last album was made at the end of July 1961 for Contemporary in Los Angeles with a band around the pianist Wynton Kelly .
