Karl Wellnitz

Karl Wellnitz (born May 20, 1913 in Arnswalde ; † August 5, 1992 in Berlin ) was a German mathematician and university professor.

Life

He graduated from high school in Arnswalde in 1931. Then he studied at the University of Greifswald and on June 13, 1936 took the state examination for teaching qualifications (mathematics, physics, chemistry). He received his doctorate on January 27, 1940 . The topic of his dissertation was: On a new version of the concept of mathematical probability. In 1962 he was made associate professor for mathematics at the Pedagogical University of Berlin , in 1970 full professor for mathematics and didactics of the natural sciences and in 1975 retired.
