Jozef Heriban (born July 9, 1953 in Trnava ) is a Slovak writer and screenwriter . He was a member of the Slovak National Council and an observer at the European Parliament .

Heriban has created a number of films that have been recognized worldwide and have received multiple awards, as well as dozens of radio plays that have been played in many countries. For several years he worked as marketing director of the international film festival Bratislava, currently he is working as a media consultant and since 2006 he has been teaching at the Faculty of Management and the Faculty of Humanities at Comenius University. He is married to Alena Heribanová and has two daughters Tamara Heribanová and Barbara Heribanová .

Life

Heriban received his doctorate from the Faculty of Humanities at the Comenius University in Bratislava with a thesis on the specific features of design in mass communication institutions. During this time he was already working as a dramaturge in the Slovak film industry and is known for his successful radio plays, which were played in several European countries at the time. After obtaining his doctorate in philosophy in 1985, he worked as a screenwriter and director.

In 1981 he became head of the feature film creation group at Koliba Film Studios. He is the author of radio plays, books, films and television series. Many have won film awards at international festivals in Cairo, Philadelphia, Houston, San Francisco, etc. After Heriban's recent successes, including the Golden Prize at the 28th IFF in Houston and the silver tower at the 39th IFF in San Francisco, he decided to leave the film industry.

He decided to use his artistic talent in marketing. In 1998 he became PR director and member of the board of Eurotel Bratislava AG, two years earlier he was the first PR director of the first Slovak commercial television channel in TV Markiza, and so he is considered one of the founders of the brand. After Heriban left the post of Eurotel Marketing Director, he became PR Director and Member of the Board of the PR Department at TV Markíza .

Heriban is currently primarily devoted to literature, he writes and publishes books. He is a member of the Slovak PEN Center, where he works as a secretary and organizer of many literary events. Heriban is also a member of the Slovak Academy of Film and Television.

In 2001 he led the political campaign for the Liberal Party of Slovakia Aliancia nového občana (ANO), a year later he was elected in the parliamentary elections and so he became a member of the Slovak Parliament and an official observer in the European Parliament .
