Jozef Migaš

Jozef Migaš (born January 7, 1954 in Pušovce ) is a Slovak politician .

Life

He studied philosophy at Kiev University . He was a lecturer in Bratislava at the Institute for Marxism-Leninism of the Political College of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Slovakia. After the Velvet Revolution he took part in the founding of the Party of the Democratic Left (Slovak: Strana Demokratieickej ľavice, SDĽ). He led the SDĽ until 2001. Between 1995 and 1996 he was the Slovak ambassador to Ukraine . From 1998 to 2002 he was the President of the National Council . From October 30, 1998 to June 15, 1999 was interim president, together with Mikuláš Dzurinda .
