Juan Carlos Ortega (born March 19, 1967 in Atotonilco el Alto , Jalisco ) is a retired Mexican football player who was mostly used in defense and occasionally in midfield . After his active career, Ortega worked temporarily as a trainer .

Life

Ortega played his first game in the Mexican Primera División on September 13, 1987 in the away game of CD Guadalajara at CD Irapuato , which was won 3-0. Ortega, who came on as a substitute in the 52nd minute when the score was 0-0, gave Omar Arellano the submission for the decisive 2-0 in the 86th minute. In the second half of the season Ortega scored on February 6, 1988 in a home game against the same opponent his first first division goal with a header in the 89th minute to make it 3-0.

After two seasons with the Chivas Rayadas Ortega moved before the 1989/90 season to city rivals Universidad de Guadalajara , where he was under contract until the 1992/93 season. He then played for several years for the Tigres de la UANL and in the meantime for one season (1995/96) at Club León .

Trainer

After the end of his active career, Ortega worked for several years in the coaching staff of his former club Chivas Guadalajara and supervised the first team as interim coach for two games in Apertura 2005 , where he scored 1-1 in the away game at his former club Tigres on August 20, 2005 and was able to look forward to a 1-0 home win against the Dorados de Sinaloa on August 24, 2005 .
