Geographical location

Districts of Juan Dolio

The former fishing village of Juan Dolio is located directly on the Caribbean Sea and extends over a length of approx. 7 km on both sides of the Avenida Boulevard connecting road along the coast. Via the boulevard you can reach the Autobahn 3 Autovia Del Este in a westerly and easterly direction, which bypasses the town in an arc in the north.

The distance to the state capital Santo Domingo in the west of Juan Dolios is approx. 50 km and the provincial capital San Pedro de Macorís is approx. 12 km to the east. While in the north and east of the village you will mainly find wide pasture and fallow land as well as sugar cane fields, Juan Dolio in the west joins the community of Guayacanes almost seamlessly. The tourist town of Boca Chica (approx. 23 km) and Las Américas Airport (approx. 30 km) are also to the west .

Infrastructure

Playa Juan Dolio

The center El Pueblo of the elongated town is located near a bay, Playa Juan Dolio , which is also used by the few remaining local fishermen for landing their boats.

In the north-west of the town center is the Mar Del Sol district , in the north is the closed residential complex of the Metro Golf & Country Club and in the east is the Villas Del Mar district . The west of Juan Dolios borders on the neighboring municipality and at the same time the seat of the municipal district administration, Guayacanes .

Playa Juan Dolio

The town center is crossed by a main street, Calle Principal , which runs parallel to the beach . Along the road, which can only be used by cars from the west to the east on weekends, there are numerous smaller shops, such as B. restaurants, bars and guest houses, as well as mainly smaller, but also a few multi-storey houses.

At the eastern end of Calle Principal begins the newly developed area of Villas Del Mar , which is also where the two larger hotels of the town are located. In the past, financially strong investors repeatedly used investment properties in Villas Del Mar for their projects and the zone is characterized by modern high-rise buildings, some of which are still under construction, and some luxuriously furnished residential complexes.

While Playa Juan Dolio in the center of the village is freely accessible to the public and has parking spaces, the beach in Villas del Mar , Playa Real , cannot be viewed freely, but is separated from the main road by high-floor residential buildings.

All sections of the beach in Juan Dolio were renewed in the winter months of 2006/07 through extensive government projects and enjoy a growing number of visitors, especially on weekends.
