Juan Legnazzi (* 1893 in Montevideo ; † after 1927) was a Uruguayan football player .
Career
society
Goalkeeper Legnazzi, who was of Italian descent, first played for Charley Football Club . He joined the Club Atlético Peñarol in 1920 , for which he played up to and including 1927. During this time he was the team's regular goalkeeper. He made his debut with the Montevideans on May 2, 1920 in the 1-0 win against Nacional Montevideo . In his first season he survived ten championship games or a total of 912 minutes without conceding a goal. Sometimes an eleventh game is added to these games. However, this was a so-called walk over , which ultimately did not take place at all. With the Aurinegros he won the championship title in the Primera División in 1921 . In 1924 Legnazzi and his team won the parallel championship organized by the Federación Uruguaya de Fútbol (FUF) during the split in the association structures in Uruguay. The Copa del Consejo provisional of 1926, which the Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol (AUF) does not recognize as an official championship today, decided his team in favor of Peñarol.
National team
Legnazzi was a member of the Uruguayan senior team . From his debut on July 25, 1920 to his last appearance on December 8, 1923, he completed seven international matches. He conceded six goals. Legnazzi was part of the Celeste squad at the South American Championship in Chile in 1920 , where Uruguay won the title. During the course of the tournament he was used in all three games and saved a penalty shot by Calomino in the game against Argentina. He also won the Copa Gran Premio de Honor Uruguayo and the Copa Newton with the team in the same year . Legnazzi was also part of the national team of the FUF and ran there in the international matches on November 19, 1922 and as part of the Copa Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores on December 8, 1923 against Argentina's national team, the Asociación Amateurs de Football . However, the last-named game is apparently attributed to both associations by the RSSSF , so that an error in the statistics is not unlikely.
